Domestic violence (DV) is an ongoing epidemic that has affects all communities. No matter your race, sex, gender, economic status, age, etc., you may become victimized by someone who wants to have power and control over you.  I am very knowledgeable about the dynamics of DV and the special care that must be taken in cases that involve DV.  I have spent my career representing individuals experiencing DV.  I also represent individuals in civil courts who have been falsely accused of DV. I have spent a large part of my career educating future attorneys on how properly handle cases involving DV.  I have made numerous presentations on DV to members of the legal community, educators, advocates, local community councils, medical personnel, and police departments.  I’ve had the opportunity to work with attorneys from many parts of the world in our efforts to make sure that victims of DV receive competent legal representation.

For Individuals Experiencing Domestic Violence

If you are experiencing domestic violence, I am here to help you along the way in terminating the relationship.  I have represented survivors like you for many years.   I have the compassion to listen to your story, and I have the knowledge to provide you with competent representation.  This process can be very stressful, but also very empowering.  Your safety is my number one concern.  Thus, I will support you in creating a safety plan, i.e., identifying action steps to increase your safety, and to prepare in advance for the possibility of further violence.  From there, we will explore your legal options.  This includes obtaining a protection order, divorce, custody, and support.

For Individuals Falsely Accused of Domestic Violence

If you are someone who has been falsely accused of domestic violence and a civil case has been filed against you (most likely, a civil protection order), I am here to help you clear your name.  The filing of a protection order petition can be an abusive tactic in and of itself.  The ramifications for having a protection order against you can affect everything from your ability to gain employment to your rights to see your children.  You should take these cases seriously, as the penalty for any violations of the order are criminal.
